Master in Management - Remunerated Internships and International Exposure

Internships - duration, objectives and remuneration

All candidates for the EDHEC Master in Management degree must complete a minimum of 12 months internship (15 months for MSc double diploma candidates). These are a useful source of income and provide invaluable work experience.

Typically, students schedule internships between Master level 1 and Master level 2 allowing them to apply knowledge gained in the first part of the programme and to test their skills in a practical environment before choosing their specialisation.

Students usually opt for paid internships that can run for 12 consecutive months or two 6 month internships in separate industries or missions.  This sandwich year extends the entire length of the Master in Management programme to about three years.

Alternatively, students can opt for a 2-3 month internship after Master level1 and directly enter Master level 2 in the Lille campus where the academic part of the programme ends in March. This allows students to be available for jobs and internships for the remainder of that calendar year (typically nine more months) allowing them to complete all degree requirements in just over two years.

Short internships (2 to 3 months) Typical remuneration  €500 p.m. gross
Type: students must engage in a career-specific mission  such as sales, management, organisation, conceptualisation, planning etc..

Sandwich year   (12 months)  Typical remuneration €1200-1600 p.m. gross

Master level two internship (3-9 months depending on the Major or MSc chosen)  Typical remuneration €1200 - 1800 p.m. gross
Type: First step in the job market and work experience at the junior/executive level with increased responsibilities, professional  autonomy and demonstrated initiative

Remunerated in-company placements

Salaried internships form an integral part of management training. Many EDHEC Master in Management students accumulate  up to 18 months of paid work experience  during the programme which provides welcome financial aid and enhances their learning experience in the world of business.

The EDHEC Master in Management programme prepares students to take on responsibilities for a variety of in-company missions. Students work in collaboration with small businesses, international groups, NGOs, and humanitarian associations.

EDHEC's Careers Centre
In 2006-07 the Careers Centre handled over 14 000 internship offers and17000 job offers, 20% of which were on an international level. Throughout the year, companies present their internships, first job and career opportunities directly to the EDHEC students on campus. Numerous other events are organised to facilitate students' company contact.

International Exchange Programmes

The Master in Management degree requires that students study or work at least six months abroad.  Some students, pursue a double degree at a partner institution and spend up to an entire year abroad to meet the requirements of the Master level 2 requirements. They graduate with the EDHEC Master in Management diploma and an international  diploma from the partner university. Students who choose an MSc in Year 2 cannot do an academic exchange. They meet the international requirement through a work placement.

EDHEC's international  network extends over 90 partner universities in 34 different countries, all of which are ranked among the top institutions in their nation and selected for academic excellence and geographical diversity. A variety of programmes offered in English and also in the language of the country enable students to pursue a wide range of skills and disciplinary specialisations during their time abroad.  Discover our partner list.

Since the first agreement, signed over 15 years ago with the London School of Economics, and the more recent exchange programmes with the Indian Institute of Management in Calcutta, the Universiteit Maastricht and Seoul National University, EDHEC students have had the opportunity to study in some of the world's most prestigious universities. There are now over 15 double diploma agreements signed with MBA and Master of Science programmes.

EDHEC's International Offices in Lille and in Nice help students decide on the best option, and provide assistance in sorting out all the administrative matters that need to be dealt with prior to arriving at the host university. They remain in contact with the International Office throughout their stay at the partner institution.
